Bachelor in International Hospitality Management (Hons)

Students pursuing this degree follow modules such as Business English, ICT, Foreign languages, Finance, and Internal and Integrated Marketing. Modules such as Academic Writing Skills, and Qualitative and Quantitative research methods are also taught in this degree and these lead the students to develop a research proposal followed by a dissertation exploring a related topic. The second semester of their second year is carried out at Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences in Helsinki, Finland, where modules such as Creative Hospitality and Tourism, Digital Marketing, and Technology Enhanced Experiences are taught. During the third year, students choose one area out of four specializations - Finance, Human Resources, Food and Beverage Service, Events, Spa, and Wellness. Students are expected to submit a dissertation at the end of the third year. Students also have a local industrial placement between the first and the second year of the course as well as an international industrial placement.

Prerequisites

  • A combination of a minimum of 3 Advanced and Intermediate levels, of which one needs to be an Advanced level (MQF/EQF level 4) pass, and these qualifications must add up to a minimum of 44 points as per the matrix provided at the back of the prospectus AND passes at grade 5 (SSC&P level 3) or better in SEC examinations in English and Mathematics. OR
  • Any ITS Diploma MQF/EQF Level 4 of minimum 120 ECTS (or equivalent). OR
  • An ITS Higher National Diploma or an equivalent qualification (MQF/EQF Level 5). Students with this entry criteria may enter the 2nd year of the degree. OR
  • Apply as a mature student, at least 23 years of age by the beginning of the academic year applied for, and subject to proficiency and/ or aptitude tests as per direction of the ITS. The ITS also reserves the right to subject the candidate to an interview and/or an RPL procedure before acceptance.

Applicants must also provide proof of their English proficiency at Level B2. A profiling interview upon admission may be conducted to better assist students with their learning process. Admissions of special cases will be referred to ITS’ Admissions Board.

About the Institute of Tourism Studies
The Institute of Tourism Studies (ITS), established in 1987, is Malta's leading tourism and hospitality educational institution.
